Fat bastard Wine wears pink ribbon in support of breast cancer
National Program Aims to Raise $75,000 in Fifth Consecutive Year
SEATTLE — August 20, 2007 — October is National Breast Cancer awareness month and for the fifth consecutive year consumers can purchase Fat bastard wines to help fight this devastating disease. Continuing its steadfast commitment to this important cause, Click Wine Group today announced that the company will donate a portion of the proceeds from each bottle of Fat bastard wines sold during September and October 2007 to aid in finding a cure.
Click Wine Group has already raised $225,000 for the cause and will add to that impressive figure again this year by donating 25 cents for every bottle of Fat bastard sold in restaurants and retail locations, up to $75,000. During the donation period, Fat bastard wines will be easy to spot on the shelf wearing the special “Live large, live long” necker with an attached enamel pink ribbon pin for consumers to wear and display their support.
"Each year 180,000 people—men and women—are diagnosed with breast cancer and we lose 41,000 of our family and friends to this horrible disease. The emotional and financial impact is far reaching,” said Linda Gainer, Vice President, External Relations and Communications, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. “Our researchers are looking for better, more effective ways to detect, treat and ultimately prevent breast cancer, but we can't do it alone. The generous financial support we receive from companies such as Click Wine Group enables this life-saving research to continue. We are indebted to Click Wine Group and are proud to be their partner in the fight against breast cancer.”
Click Wine Group’s CEO, Peter Click, chose to earmark proceeds because breast cancer is such a prevalent disease—one that touches the lives of so many people.
“Breast cancer does not discriminate, it affects women both young and old” said Click. “Together with the many consumers of Fat bastard wine, we’re honored to support this important cause for five years running. We look forward to donating the proceeds of this program to our long standing partners both national and local, including Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.”
